The beautiful beaches of the island of Lanzarote

Lanzarote has 213 kilometres of coastline, 27 kilometres of which are beaches. Rocky cliffs, natural swimming pools, fine sandy beaches or black lava sand, the island has it all.

Beaches in Playa Blanca

Playas de Papagayo

The nature reserve consists of a whole collection of small beaches separated by high cliffs, forming a series of sheltered coves. The fine golden sand and crystal-clear blue water give it a Caribbean flavour.

Playa Las Coloradas

Just over 400 metres long, this stretch of beach is very rocky and has little vegetation. It is the only beach in Playa Blanca where dogs are officially allowed.

Playa Dorada

A very popular beach, which the locals also like to use for a morning swim. Sheltered bay, clean and very safe for swimming. Sun loungers and parasols can be hired. A few shops and cafés cater for your physical well-being.

Playa Flamingo

This beach is also very clean and safe. There are also a number of shops and restaurants here. Playa Flamingo is the closest beach to Mi Casita.

Playa de Playa Blanca

The small sandy beach in the centre of the village is centrally located. There is no shortage of bars, cafés and restaurants here, as well as other shops and amenities that you might need. However, when the ferry comes into the harbour, the waves can sometimes crash up onto the beach.

Playa Janubio, Yaiza

Very close to Playa Blanca, between the salt pans and Los Hervideros, lies the black beach covered with picón (lava ash). WARNING: Swimming here is not without danger! You should not underestimate the often high waves and the undercurrents.

Natural swimming pools

Charcones de Janubio, Yaiza

The Los Charcones natural swimming pools stretch along the coast from the southern end of Playa Janubio to Playa Blanca at low tide. Here, too, there is a warning that this stretch of coast is dangerous.

Piscina natural de Punta Mujeres, Haría

Countless seawater pools are lined up along a two-kilometre stretch of coast in the north-east of the island.
